Orson Announce Support Group

Last night at the Borderline gig, Orson announced who would be supporting them on the forthcoming tour of the UK.

The guys have chosen a great band called ELECTRIC CITY.

Electric city is a group of 4 friends, Andrew Taylor, James Cantone, Dan Laithwaite and Jonny Bullit. They have a raw electric energy that escapes through their music and stage act, to the point where James (guitarist) plays so hard his fingers bleed.

Orson and especially Johnny are big fans of Electric City, who supported THE WHO earlier this year, so the UK tour is gearing up to be a massive hit with more talent you can shake a stick at. Better get your tickets ordered asap ;)

More information about Electric City can be found on their myspace site,
http://www.myspace.com/electriccitymusic and also on their website http://www.theelectriccity.co.uk/

Vodafone and Orson

Vodafone will form an integral part of the launch platform for Orson’s second album, with Mercury to target the mobile provider’s vast UK network with an advance sampler of the set next month.
Culture Vulture is issued physically on October 22 but fans who download lead single Ain’t No Party via Vodafone on October 15 will receive an album sampler featuring snippets of the entire release.
Mercury senior product manager Clive Cawley says it was an opportunity to generate excitement ahead of the album’s release. “It’s a valuable promotion because, all going well, it will drive people toward the album release,” he says. “It creates an instant awareness.”

The major is also planning a global listening session via a leading UK newspaper, details of which are still being confirmed.
“This is a massive priority,” says Cawley. “We’re hoping to shift significant copies by Christmas.”
Lead single Ain’t No Party has got off to a strong start with radio in the UK, where it has been playlisted by Capital and Virgin.

Leave your comments on Music Weeks website where we heard about the offer.

Orson with Princes Harry and William

The guys looked to have had a great after show party with Prince William and Prince Harry after a fantastic set they performed on Sunday at the Diana tribute concert. This must have been an all time high for the guys in Orson meeting up with some of the most influential people in music.

Orson with Rod Stewart

But its back to business already as they get back into the studio to put the finishing touches to their widely anticipated new album hinted at being released by the end of summer/early autumn.

Diana Concert Orson Appearance

Orson paid a fitting tribute to Princess Diana at Wembley Stadium today.
TV presenter Ferne Cotton gave them a fantastic introduction, and they took to the stage looking every bit at home up there, not only infront of the 63, 000 people in Wembley, but the millions of people world wide watching them on TV. Later reported that there was an estimated 1 billion people watching the concert around the globe !!!!! 14.8 Million in the U.K. alone
Their performance was faultless. And making sure the people at the back could hear them, THEY ROCKED LOUD!
They played Happiness and No Tomorrow, and had the more enthusiastic of the crowd bouncing along.
Even Princess Beatrice was up out of seat and dancing her royal bottom off!
Again, Orson, you make us very proud.

Orson played to a packed wembley stadium today much to the enjoyment of the crowd. The whole band seemed regenerated and full of energy. Great to see them back on stage after so long from the public eye.and entertaining their fans on a stage that was the perfect size for Johnny to run around on.

NEWS FOR APRIL 2007

One Off Gigs Coming Up

For those of you who are missing the band performing and needing a quick fix. Although it's not Orson themselves a couple of band members will be performing with their old bands.

Johnny will be performing with his old band LIQUID JESUS at the Whisky A Go Go Club in Hollywood on the 5th of May for a one off gig.

Kevin meanwhile will be teaming up with his friend and Orson's producer Noah Shain for a PRAYING HANDS gig at The Barfly, Camden Town, London on the 30th May.

Alright Hollywood may be a little too far out of the way for us UK fans but if anyone has the chance to get down to the Barfly then you'll definitely see a great gig.

ORSON Play for Princess Diana

All the performers for the sellout event have been approved by Princes William and Harry. They include James Blunt, hip hop megastar Kanye West, Keane, James Morrison, Rod Stewart and Bryan Adams.
William said: "We want it to represent exactly what our mother would have wanted. "We wanted this big concert full of energy - full of fun and happiness." Last night, an insider said: "They have put an immense amount of effort into the concert. "They've personally selected acts they knew their mother loved in her lifetime and some newer ones they felt she'd have appreciated."
Take That offered their services when they heard what the princes were planning. Mark Owen said: "Diana was such an amazing woman. I think it's lovely they want to do something to remember her."
Orson and Meatloaf will also join previously announced stars Elton John, Joss Stone, Bryan Ferry, Duran Duran, Pharrell Williams, Andrew Lloyd Webber and the English National Ballet for the event on July 1.
Robbie Williams and George Michael, who attended her funeral, have also been invited. A crowd of 90,000 will pack the new Wembley Stadium for the show. Millions will watch as it is broadcast live on BBC1.
Tickets sold out within 20 minutes of being made available in December. Cash raised will go to the Diana Memorial Fund and other charities.
